    I study plant ecophysiology. i am specifically interested in the tissue in plants that transports the sugars produced in photosynthesis. i have also done work on counting tree rings and measuring water potential. i love all plants, but my study system is often trees.

    What is your favorite plant? Why?

    My favorite plant is a sunflower because they follow the sun. They're also made up of many individual flowers, but look like one giant flower.

    What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
    My favorite part about being a scientist is getting to ask questions and then hopefully find the answers to them. I love being able to design an experiment and see if my hypothesis was correct.

    What was the first science experiment you ever designed? How did it turn out?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
    The first science experiment I designed was to test if plants grew differently in response to different types of music. The design was flawed, but I did find that plants grew the tallest when they were played heavy metal.
