  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
I am more interested in plants, in particular the crops. I have a strong agriculture background, in specific understanding their botany, genetics, breeding, crop physiology, I have worked on several crop and fruit species (sugarcane, millets, wheat, soybean, peach, and kiwi). I am more fascinated about DNA science and molecular markers. My present research is focused on the analysis of water deficit and heat stress on soybean with emphasis on quantitative traits using biotechnological and genomic tools. I do small green house and growth chamber studies to large field studies for my research. I am more passionate in meeting new people and collaborating with teachers and scientist to deliver my skills for improvement of crop production and promise food security for future

  • Profile Question 1
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
I aspired to be a scientist and I am a scientist now.

I developed my interest in science career starting from my middle school and i had a strong desire to be a scientist starting from my high school.

I was born and brought up in country side where i saw green plants all around. I understood that the food that we eat come from plant and i was more fascinated to study it. My desire to be scientist with interest in plant made me to be a plant scientist today.

  • Profile Question 2
What is the coolest thing you have discovered or learned about plants?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
The coolest thing i discovered about the plant is not all the plants are same. Most of them are very interesting to study and all them have their special feature and appearance and some can grow everywhere and with extreme environmental conditions. Its so cool to study plant and its very hard to explain and you may need to feel it !!!

  • Profile Question 3
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
Wheat is my favorite plant as it feeds billions of people. Wheat is the major crop that feeds the world and i have also worked on it for my doctorate study. I have a guts feeling that it will be the only crop that can feed the future and boost food security with changing climate with more resilience.
