Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
My educational research was in Geology/Earth Science. The research focused on ancient rivers in Australia. It looked at the landscape and morphology, fauna and flora, and the sediments.

  • Profile Question 1
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Science was always fun. It was challenging and I wanted to learn new things. It allowed me to think analytically but be creative as well. Thinking out of the box is always helpful.

Science is hard but worth the headaches.

  • Profile Question 2
What lessons have you learned in your career about how science works?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
Remember your science basics as well as retain the information. It is not just a memory game but how to use that information to make experiments and explain it to others.

  • Profile Question 3
What is tough about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
Science is very demanding. In all jobs there are deadlines and such but with science many months of hard work may turn out incorrect in a matter of minutes.

Great work team,

You will want to make parameters for your experiment. First, how many plants will you use? How much water will each plant receive? And what types of temperatures will you use: warm, cool, or control (room temp)?

Hi Sydney,

Great ideas. Make sure not to oversaturate your disks. You will want to make sure you use the correct amount of water to allow germination and growth.
