  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
I have studied botany and ultrastructural research at the University of Vienn. Since a few years I work as a science teachter and are very interested in finding ways to spark an interest for plants in my students (High School level).

  • Profile Question 1
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Only as I started working on my masters thesis I found that I loved working scientiifically (plant science - ultrastructural Research - Pollen grains). I loved the many steps it takes to work on a scientific question up to the point to publish your new findings - it is an extremely creative, exciting and challanging work.

  • Profile Question 2
What is tough about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
I found it hard to find the time to work scientifically as experiments just require a lot of time (including nights and weekends) with my husband being a scientist also and three kids to care for. After my twins were born I took some time off and started to work as a science teacher afterwards - also very rewarding.

  • Profile Question 3
Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
I was attending a High School with focus on business which I did not really like, but my science teacher was a great story teller and a funny guy, and he sparked my interest in science.
