  What is best about being a scientist?

  The best thing about being a scientist is being able to directly contribute to a community that can change regulations, laws, view points, and the lives of the average every-day person. The science world is constantly evolving and it is so fun to be a part of new topics, discoveries, and discussions, as well as testing your own hypothesis to potentially alter or strengthen these things!

  What is your favorite plant? Why?

  Nepenthes ampullaria. This is a pitcher plant that was originally carnivorous (as are most pitcher plants), but evolved to catch falling leaves instead - so it's actually a detritivore!

  Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

  Science classes were among my favorite, but not my most favorite. I really grew and developed in my love for science after entering college. What really started me on this path was my AP Biology teacher during my senior year of high school. His motivation made me wonder more about biology, which caused me to be where I am today... a happy scientist!
