Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
I have worked for 4 full years at DeWitt Public Schools as a 7th grade science teacher. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors Degree in interdepartmental biology and with an integrated science endorsement. I also completed my Masters Degree in teaching and curriculum with a specialization in science education at MSU. I currently teach 7th grade science and two science elective courses (Human Body and Diseases and Mysteries in Science). Prior to teaching at DeWitt Junior High I taught at Fowlerville Community Schools (high school chemistry) and Ashley Community Schools (Earth science, physical science, physics and chemistry).
I live in Saint Johns, Michigan with my husband, two sons (10 years and 3 years) and daughter (18 months). In my free time I enjoy reading, running, coaching and playing volleyball. I am taking a year off coaching to spend more time with my family, but I am usually involved with the cheerleading program. My newest favorite activity is volleyball. I participate in summer and winter league volleyball in Saint Johns and Fowler. While these are my favorite hobbies, my family takes up most of my time!
