I participated in the Power of Sunlight last year with two of my sophomore biology classes. I would like to participate again. I will have four sections of a mixture of sophomores and freshmen in Honors Biology. I am also trying to recruit the regular biology teachers to jump on board. Last fall, I felt like my photosynthesis and cellular respiration units were better grounded because of our participation in the program. If four classes is too much, I also have one section of AP Biology that also meets first semester (fall) and I could use the Power of Sunlight with them instead. The module and interaction with scientists was a positive on all fronts. Many of my students even mentioned this on their course evaluations this year. I feel like they had a deeper understanding of the process through their participation. I am looking forward to tweaking how it worked with my curriculum last year so that it will be even more meaningful (if that is even possible).
