    I'm interested in conservation, community ecology, and how fire interacts with plants.

    What is your favorite plant? Why?

    I think carnivorous plants are the coolest! My favorite is probably Darlingtonia californica, also called the cobra plant or California pitcher plant.

    What is tough about being a scientist?

    Working in science can be very rewarding, but it can also be very frustrating. You can work on a problem or experiment for a long time before you figure it out. You need patience, which isn't always easy.

    What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
    I like trying to solve problems, and as a scientist I get to do that. Also, because of my job I've had the chance to travel and work in some amazing places, like Alaska, China, and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Some days, it doesn't feel like a job at all!

Picking colors across the spectrum makes sense to me.
