Site Security, Privacy Policy, and Limited Liability

PlantingScience is a secure website that complies fully with the Child’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998. We encourage student/parental consent for all participation and, in accordance with COPPA, require parental consent for all students 13 years old and younger.  Only registered students, teachers, and scientist mentors can participate in this online community. Please know that last names are not put online and photos are optional.

Scientist mentors seek to guide student investigations in a nurturing and learning environment. Information about designing, conducting, or advising experiments is provided in good faith, without warranty of any kind, and in no event will persons involved in the PlantingScience be held liable for any damages arising as a result of following advice on this website. In order to assess the impact of our program on its participants over time, we collect and analyze the outcomes of the program in various formats. We also showcase project materials, sharing these with the Botanical Society of America and partner societies, funding agencies, and other interested parties.
