We know that plants desire specific growing conditions and have different needs depending on what and where they grow. We have learned in class that plants actually make their own food and use water in order to start their self feeding process. We also know that soil has little assistance in the initial growth. We also learned that roots will begin to move towards water in order to absorb water. I specifically like the questions like: how lights affect growth, at what point do plants need soil, etc.?

Research Question |
Can silt help basil to grow quickly? Can we monitor pH levels in order to create best possible growth outcomes? Can we infuse water with nitrogen to help our basil grow? |

Experimental Design |
We are looking for the affect temperature has on Basil seeds germination rate and growth rate of the basil plants. We will have 3 groups each in their own pot consisting of 5 seeds. We will plant each seed in 50% vermiculite and 50% peat moss. We will give each pot 100 mL of water every Thursday. We will also check the number of seeds germinated, the length of the plants, the width of the plants, and the number of true leaves every Thursday. Group1 will be kept at 60 degrees fahrenheit , Group 2 will be kept at 70 degrees fahrenheit, and group 3 will be kept at 80 degrees fahrenheit. |
