what do we know about plants from our experiences outside of school? what have we discovered in class and background research? what questions about plants interest us. |
Research Question |
How long does it take for the seed mass to grow ? |
Predictions |
The prediction for these seeds is that one of the seeds will gain more mass while the others will either lose mass or stay the same. |
Experimental Design |
1- Gather the materials.
2- Place 3 paper towels into 3 dishes.
3- Place 1g of radish seeds into each dish.
4- Add water to one dish and place it into the light.
5- Add water to another dish but place it in the dark.
6- Place the last dish by the window without adding water.
7- Wait 1-2 weeks, then place seeds into a drying oven.
8- Weigh the mass of dried seeds.
9- Record data.
10- Make a graph. |
Conclusion |
Seeds need water much more than they need light. This could be because of the amount of sun given. The sun evaporates water and could take some from the seeds. The data we collected shows that the seed from dish 2, which had no light, grew more than the 2 other dishes. This proves the point that our seeds do not need light to grow unless they're a plant. :) |
