Research Question Which produces a greater yield in lettuce plants when comparing aquaponics to hydroponics?
Predictions If using an aquaponics v.s. hydroponics systems, then an aquaponics will yield 25% or more lettuce. Past research have shown that fish cause plants to grow better in some cases.
Experimental Design Our plan is to have two different tanks, an aquaponics and a hydroponics system. These tanks will water two different lettuce plants and will contain the same amount of water, except the aquaponics tanks will contain tilapia fish and the hydroponics tank will only contain the water and nutrients. We will see which tank will help the lettuce grow better in each of the different tanks that will be placed in the greenhouse.
