Plant Sauce

Project by group shsrobinsonfall2019

Explore We know that plants supply us with food and oxygen, they need water and sunlight to grow, they create their own energy through photosynthesis, and they release oxygen and glucose through photosynthesis. Some plant questions we have are "Why do some plants live through winter?" and "Does the size of the container effect plant growth?".
Research Question Research Question: How does the size of the container effect plant growth?
Predictions Hypothesis: If we give the nasturtium a large container then it will grow bigger because it will have more room to grow?
Experimental Design First we germinate the Nasturtium seeds. After germination is complete we put 89 seed in each of the three growth chambers. After a week in the growth chamber, put each of the three seeds in a separate pot (Small, Medium, and Large). Let each plant grow and record observations like height and the number of leaves. We will see how each plant grows in each of the different size containers. The control is the medium size pot, the independent variable is the container size, and the dependent variable is the size of the nasturtium seeds.
Conclusion Our hypothesis was wrong the leaves did grow bigger in the large pot and smaller in the small pot ,but the stems in the medium pot were taller than the others and was more populated.
