The plants use photosynthesis to get food. Most grow on land but some grow in aquatic ecosystems. They can grow fruits or vegetables. They need sunlight and water to survive. Some can survive a long time without water. Including cacti and aloe. We really want to know if the temperature of the water effects the growth of the plants. We are using round beet seeds they are very tiny. |
Research Question |
Does the temperatures of water effect how the plant grows? |
Predictions |
If we use different temperatures of water then the plants will vary in size and growth because hot water will kill the plant and warm water will be just right. |
Experimental Design |
we will have 3 petri dishes and then put an even amount of each in all 3 dishes. We will have a graduated cylinder to put the water in the dishes but we'll have different temperatures of water. Hot (85), warm(75), and medium(65). We will then test the growths of the plant depending on the temperatures We will use a ruler to measure the height and a thermometer to make sure we have the right temperatures of water. We will have 1 plant as our control to know if its the water making the changes. |
Conclusion |
For our conclusion the 65°F water the best. The other two temperatures were to hot. One of our members measured in celsius, So the the 65°F was the only one that wasn't to hot. The 75 degree and 85 degree died from getting water way too hot. We could have measures in the correct temperature and then it might have worked. We could do different degree water and different sugar levels in it. |
