Explore The salt put in the water for the celery caused the celery to become limp and squishy. It did not bend a lot, one of them not bending at all. Celery also has natural sugars that it produces itself.
Research Question Does sugar change the bending of celery?
Predictions The celery with 5 grams of sugar will bend more and get crispy, the one with 10 grams might bend a little but become soft.
Experimental Design We get three cups, three pieces of celery (same width- 3cm, and length- 9 cm). One cup has plain water, one has water with 5 grams of sugar, and one has 10 grams of sugar. Place one celery in each cup, and watch what happens. Keep in room temperature. Record the findings.
Conclusion The 10g celery got disgusting and very squishy. It fell apart when we tried to measure it. The 5g one got slightly squishy. The control was the same as before.
