- they produce oxygen
- grow the best with water/sunlight/CO2
What effects plant growth the most? |
Research Question |
We want to test if plants grow better in basic or acidic solutions. We came up with this because it is similar to what we just did. It fits with what we know about the topic because we want to know if photosynthesis can occur easier or if it is more difficult in different solutions. |
Predictions |
We predict that the plants will grow better in more basic solutions because they usually contain more CO2 which plants need to undergo photosynthesis. |
Experimental Design |
We will use three solutions for this experiment. One will contain vinegar and will be our acid, another will contain KOH and will be our base, and the third will contain distilled water with CO2 in it which will act as our control. We will add CO2 to the distilled water by blowing into it. We will control the amount of water they get and the amount of light they get. We will record our data by timing how long it takes the plant to photosynthesize in each solution in a 20 minute time period. |
Conclusion |
From out experiment we can conclude that plants grow faster in bases than in acids. |
