Explore Plants take in energy from sunlight/light to follow through with photosynthesis. They also take in Carbon Dioxide and release Oxygen. Lastly another thing that we know is that plants are green because of the chlorophyll. We have discovered that the greater the pH, the slower photosynthesis will occur. A question that we are interested in is how plants can help the environment become clean?
Research Question We want to test to see if the pH level effects the speed of photosynthesis on plants. We came up with this question because during our experiment we noticed that the 'water with breathe' didn't get 50% of its spinach dots up, compared to the other 2 cups that did. This question fits what we know about the topic because it expresses the speed of photosynthesis and to what level it completes it.
Predictions The possible outcomes of our given study given the variables we are working with is that depending on the level of pH with different plants could give us different results. During the experiment that we did today, we noticed the cup with the lover pH level had a different effect than the other ones.
Experimental Design Our plan is to get different plants or the same plants and test the different pH levels by putting them in different cups. We will test the pH level and the speed at which they rise to the top of the cup. The number of plants dots will stay the same and we will record our data using a graph like we did today.
Conclusion The speed of photosynthesis is effected by the level of pH. This could be because the lower the pH the more acidic the water becomes which makes photosynthesis harder to occur.
