Sun Movement

Project by group othsmikosspring2020

Explore We learned that there are all different shapes, sizes, and colors of plants from outside of school. In school we learned how that’s possible and that all plants perform photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Our question is does the angle of the sun affect the plants?
Research Question How does the angle of the sun affect the plants process to perform photosynthesis?
Predictions At the suns prime or when the lamp is directly on the cups, photosynthesis will be performed the quickest/ the most floating leaves. The reactants for photosynthesis are CO2 and sunlight so when the sun is at its prime it’ll take these reactants in the quickest.
Experimental Design we will cut out 20 leave pieces and place half in a plain water cup and half in a baking soda water cup (1 tsp). Then we will place the cups under the lamp at 4-5 different angles to replicate the sun movement. They will be kept at each angle for three minutes at a time. Our control variable are the leaves, the independent variable is the angles of the lamps, and our dependent variable is how many leaves float in each type of water cup.
