Predictions |
The white incandescent light will increase photosynthesis in the spinach leaves. Incandescent lights hold heat, the red light is less bright, and may hold less heat. |
Experimental Design |
Our plan is to fill two cups with 3cm of water stirred with 1 tsp of baking soda. Punch out 20 puncher size holes of spinach with a hole puncher. CAREFULLY put 10 of the newly sized spinach in one syringe and put 10 in another. Fill up the syringes with the water and baking soda and make it so that the spinach sinks. Release the syringe’s spinach at the exact same time into the cups. Place one cup under a white incandescent light and put the other cup under a red incandescent light. Watch the cups for 15 minutes. Each minute write down how much spinach floated to the top of the cups in a table. |
Conclusion |
The white incandescent light increased the process of photosynthesis more than the red incandescent light. The white lamp seemed to be brighter and hotter than the red lamp. That is likely the reason why the white one surfaced more spinach. People could use this information to conduct more experiments with heat powered processes. This lamp could provide more planting opportunities. |
