othsmikosfall2020 project 16

Project by group othsmikosfall2020

Explore We have learned that the inside of celery is affected the most by osmosis.
Research Question Our group asked what is the best thickness of celery to make it curl. We came up with that by looking at what the topic was and picking a subject to test.
Predictions We think slicing the celery the thinnest will make the curliest celery.
Experimental Design We have decided to take one piece of celery and cut it in half to make two shorter pieces of celery. We are then going to take on of those pieces and cut it in half to make two thinner pieces. Then with one of those halves, we will cut it in half again. The whole, half, and quarter will soak in 1cup water, two tablespoons salt in seperate cups for 24 hours. In this experiment the control variable is the water and salt, the independent variable is the size of the celery, and the dependent variable is how much the celery curls. We will measure how much the celery curls by measuring from where the two ends are level to the arch of the curve.
