Research Question Can green light change a plants size, color, or taste?
Predictions The plant being given only green light might be greener than the rest of the plants because the chlorophyll doesn't absorb green light. The plant given oxygen deprivation might be less healthy because it needs oxygen to survive.
Experimental Design Materials list: *3 same sized bottles (clear)*15 radish seeds*3 same boxes (at least the size of bottles)*one roll of green cellophane*one roll of clear cellophane*duct tape (same color)*soil Directions: Step 1: duct tape all the cracks of the box up leaving one side open. Step 2: put those aside and grab your bottles, soil, and seeds Step 3: cut the tops off the bottles and put an equal amount of soil in each one Step 4: plant 4 seeds in each one at least one inch apart Step 5: put one plant in each box and cover the open end of one box with green cellophane and the open end of another box with clear cellophane. label the green and clear cellophane with experimental and label the normal box with control. Step 6: Cut a flap into the side of the box so that you can take the plant out to measure and water them (make it stay closed with Velcro {optional}) * You should water your plants every day (it doesn't matter as long as your soil stays moist). But make sure not to drown your plants. (you can poke holes in the bottom of your bottles if drainage is needed. *if you think plants aren't getting enough oxygen you can insert a black pipe into the box for airflow *throughout the project you should check for variations in color, texture, and growth between the control and the experimental
Conclusion We concluded that the green cellophane was doing better. It was hard to tell which plant was doing better because they all died half way through the project but, we did replant and the experimental with regular light did end up dying again. Our group thinks the green light plant ended up doing better in the end of the experiment. Also the leaves on the the green light plant were a little yellowish green.
