A couple of us have grew up on farms and been around agriculture. We also learned a the growth process of plants and the different cycles the plants go through. |
Research Question |
Will the change in soil types affect the growth rate of the alfalfa planted? |
Predictions |
We believe the alfalfa will grow best in the normal potting mix then the others due to the fact that the more moisture maybe to much and the other may not be enough nutrients to grow the alfalfa. |
Experimental Design |
We have 12 different potting places, 4 different soils and 3 trials of each soil. We have alfalfa seeds that will be planted into the 4 different soils and over the span of time measure the height and mass of the alfalfa. There is a normal soil, moisture soil, organic soil and an indoor soil that will all be tested. All the soils will be getting the same measure amount of water and the same amount of light produced from a lamp. |
Conclusion |
All the plants grew a pretty good amount. But the plant that had the most growth and the most plants is the moisture control soil. The plant that had the worst growth was the organic soil. We watered them everyday and measured them, after a while they started dieing and shrinking. But they all did that when the room got cold. |
