All of us have past experiences in agriculture by working in farm labour. From what we know, plants require a lot of attention and care depending on their genetic makeup. Some plants require a lot og water often and others do not require much water all the time. |
Research Question |
What solvents will affect the growth of plants? |
Predictions |
We predict that bleach will completely kill a plant. Another prediction that we have is that salt will decrease the pace of the growth of a plant . Our explanation for as to why bleach will kill a plant is because bleach raises the pH level of the soil really high, killing most vegetation and preventing it from growing in the near future. |
Experimental Design |
To start our experiment we will need radishes which will be provided by our advisor. We will use soil and 3 glass jars in order to plant three different radishes so that each solvent will be tested apart from each other. We will be using coffee, nickels, and salt to test the effects on the plant growth. We will take notes daily to see what has changed on the plant. We will also use a measuring tape to know how much the plant has grown or has shrunk. We will add 10 cm of water to each of the three plants so that water won't be a problem to the growth of the plants. We will also have our control plant in which nothing but water will be added to the radish. |
