We know that plants need sun, water, nutrients, and air to survive. We discovered that some plants don't even need that much light. Something that interests us about plants is how they use light. We know they use light to photosynthesize, what else do they use it for? |
Research Question |
How will different colored lights affect plant growth? Which colored lights are good for plant growth, which ones are unhelpful? |
Predictions |
We believe that the red will help it grow, the blue will be neutral, and the green will slow it down. |
Experimental Design |
We have a box that is separated into three sections, each section has a different colored light. One light is red one is green and the last one is blue. We are recording our data by measuring the # of leaves and the hight of the plant. |
Conclusion |
Our conclusion is that little light is best for germinating plants. This is better because they need moisture more than anything at this stage. Most importantly, they have no leaves and cannot use the light to photosynthesize. The data we collected support our claim because the red light was the best for the height of the plants. Some future experiments that could be done to expand on the results of this experiment would be to test if different colored lights affect the flowering and fruiting of plants. |
