Explore We know that plants grow and that they need water, the sun, and nutrients and the photosynthesize. We learned about how plants can make the probability of reproduction more likely.
Research Question We want to test if plants are alive. In class, we learned about the seven characteristics of life and we are testing two of them which are response to stimuli and growth in plants.
Predictions I predict that the heat will make the plants grow faster because the sun is not only light it is also hot. It could also be that the seeds take longer to sprout because of the heat which makes the water evaporate.
Experimental Design Our plan is to prove that seeds respond to stimuli. We took 4 petri dishes and put a paper towel in each of them, then we put 6 seeds in each petri dish and watered them. Then, we put two of the petri dishes next to a heat lamp, and the other two in a room at room temperature. We are currently waiting for the seeds to sprout.
