Seed Sized Brains ;)

Project by group dmsstiemspring2021

Explore Seeds are basically dormant baby plants. When in the right conditions they begin to germinate. Seed variation can be dramatic and can come in different forms. When a seedings shoot hits sunlight it begins to photosynthesize and begins to make its own food instead of using its food reserves. Different seeds respond in different ways.
Research Question How do different types of liquid affect seed germination?
Predictions If we have 4 different liquids, (Water, Sugar water, sprite, and coca cola.) then the water plant will grow the fastest out of the other liquids. We think the water plant will grow the fastest because water is a need for a seed, and the other drinks have a lot of sugar in them.
Experimental Design We will each have our own seed/seeds, and a different type of liquid. The liquids we are using will be sprite, coca cola, sugar water, and water. We are going to water the seeds every night, and we will use buckwheat seeds and give it a normal amount of water. We will each have ten seeds, unless we need less. We will collect data by putting it in our notebooks, or a printed out chart to be organized. We will be measuring the seeds growth with a ruler. We will use centimeters. We are going to watch are seeds for a whole week and measure the plants all week. This way it gives the plants some time to grow, and we will get better measurements. We are going to use the water plant as a visual on how our other plants grew. We will be changing the liquids, which will cause different measurements, and we will be recording all.
Conclusion Overall, I think we conducted a good experiment. Different types of liquid do affect seed germination.
