The Planting Psychopaths

Project by group dmsstiemspring2021

Explore Seeds need three things to begin germination 1. Water 2. Location 3. Temperature Seeds are mostly food.
Research Question How does the amount of water effect when the seed germinates.
Predictions If we give the seed less than five millilitres of water or more than 5 millilitres of water then it will take longer for the seed to germinate.
Experimental Design Everybody gets 10 seeds for each amount of water. Anna will give the seed 5 mil of water. Brendan will give the seed 8 mil of water. Justin will do 10 mil of water and Teegan will do 2 mil of water. Materials: 1 dropper 1 test tube 40 corn seeds 12 petri dishes 8 pieces of paper towel
Conclusion Claim: If you give a corn seed 8 mil of water per day then it will germinate faster than other amounts of water. Evidence: The seeds that were given 2 ml of water had 4 seeds germinate on day four. The seeds that were given 5 ml of water had 6 seeds germinate on day 3. The seeds with 8 ml of water had 7 seeds germinate on day 3. The seeds with 11 ml of water had 6 seeds germinate on day 4. Therefore the seeds given 8 ml of water had the most seeds germinate the fastest. Reasoning: Plants need water to live. Water is one of the things that plants need to photosynthesize. So the more water given to a plant the more photosynthesis a plant can do. If the plant can do more photosynthesis than the more it can grow, but if you give a plant to much water then it will drown and die. Therefore when the seeds were given 11 ml of water a day it was to much and the seed died. 8 ml was just the right amount because it wasn’t to much and it wasn’t not enough.
