The Pineapples

Project by group dmsstiemspring2019

Explore Plants need a good location, the right temperature, and water to begin germination.
Research Question How does the temperature of water affect how fast a plant germinates?
Predictions If you water soybean seeds with cold water, then the seeds will germinate slower.
Experimental Design Step 1: Line 6 petri dishes with paper towel and place 7 soybean seeds in each. Step 2: Place dishes in a location where it can reach enough light. Step 3: In the first two peti dishes, put 5 ml of WARM WATER in. Step 4: In the second two dishes, put 5 ml of COLD WATER in. Step 5: In the final two petri dishes, put 5 ml of ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER in. Step 6: Each day, record how much the plant has germinated.
Conclusion Hot water made more soybean seeds germinate. Although most web pages say room temperature water would be the best for plants to germinate, our experiment showed otherwise. Every plant is different and has different need to survive. This is why we believe hot water was the right kick-start for soybeans to begin to germinate.
