Plants go through a process called photosynthesis. They also go through cellular respiration. Plants are multi-cellular which means they have different cells that perform different tasks. In order for seed to germinate they need water, the correct temperature, and a good location. |
Research Question |
Out of three different species of plants, which species will germinate the fastest? |
Predictions |
If we plant 3 different plant species, then the rye grass will germinate the fastest. (We're using rye grass corn, and nasturtium). |
Experimental Design |
Plant 10 seeds of three different species in 6 separate petri dishes. Keep the amount of light, water, and temperature level the same. Every day check the seed to see if any seeds have germinated. Keep track of how long it takes for seeds to germinate.(if they do). |
Conclusion |
Out of rye grass, corn, and nasturtium, rye grass will germinate the fastest. We had 7 rye grass seeds germinate, 2 corn seeds germinate, and zero nasturtium seeds germinate. This is because rye grass seeds normally take the shortest time to germinate. Nasturtium you have to scratch the seed to get it to germinate faster. Corn also makes sense because we did everything we needed to , it just takes longer normally to germinate. |
