Explore What we know: -temp. affects how the seed grows -temp. will affect the speed it grows -temp. will affect how long it takes to grow -the amount of seeds and the temp. will affect how it grows, the speed it grows, and how long it takes What we want to research: -what temps. would be good to use -how often we should change the temp. -how it will affect it and how much different will it be Temps. to try with the seeds: 75 55 40
Research Question How does the temperature the seed is in affect how it grows or how long it takes to grow?
Predictions I think that if we make the temperature either hot or cold, then it will affect how the seed grows and how long or short it takes to grow.
Experimental Design Procedure: 1. put 10 radish seeds in a paper towel and fold it and put it in a plastic bag and do this in 3 different bags 2. get the thermometer and check the temperature of the water and then water the seeds and/or the paper towel 3. if the water isn’t the right temperature heat the first bag to 75 degrees (our first temp. and hottest temp.) the next time you water it (every other day) the second bag should be 55 degrees, then the third bag should be 40 degrees 4.water the seeds every other day with the correct temperature in each bag 5.after some time observe how much the seed has sprouted and record the number of days it takes to grow an inch 6.continue to monitor your seed each day and water at correct temp for each bag every other day
Conclusion Claim- The temperature of the water affects how and how long it took for the seeds to germinate. Reasoning: We decided to investigate this question because we wanted to see how long or the differences of watering each see at different temperature. We figure out that the colder the water the faster it germinated which surprised us because usually the temperature of the water is room temperature or hot/warm. I think our investigation was a pretty fair text because we made sure the water was the right temp. And that we watered the correct seeds. Use more seeds and do this experiment outside in actual sunlight and continue it for a longer period of time. Evidence- We watered each of our seeds with a different temperature and the colder temperature germinate faster and more.
