I know when the plant sprouts and the leaves open it starts the photosynthesis process. The seed sprouting is germination. Then you need moist water and light to grow the seed. |
Research Question |
How does the amount of water given to a seed affect the amount of time it will take to germinate? |
Predictions |
Preston - If you add too much water then the seed will take longer to germinate. I think this because too much water could drown the seed.
Zach -
Abigail -
Cooper -If you add more water to the seed then it will germinate faster. |
Experimental Design |
Procedure:
Step 1. First, each covid-20 member will get 2 plastic bags then place a damp towel (20 drops) in each bag followed by 5 buckwheat seeds in each bag.
Step 2. Leave it overnight at the school.
Step 3. The following day Zach will add 1 drop to each of his bags, Cooper will add 3 drops of water to his bag, Preston will add 6 drops of water to each bag, and Abigail will add 9 drops of water to her bag.
Step 4. repeat step 2.
Step 5. Measure how large the seed is.
Step 6. Repeat steps 3-5 for a week. |
Conclusion |
We all can make this claim which is,IF you add more water then the seed it will germinate faster.like we had 10 drops of water only 5 germinated and 40 drops of water 9 germinated.our results showed everything. Our reasoning supports our claim because it showed what is happening when the water gets to the plant and it absorbing the water.WE could expend this by doing another project about how much light would it take for a seed to germinate. |
