Explore I know they use CO2 and sunlight to grow i know they do photosynthesis and cellular respiration i know they have nucleuses, cell walls, cell membranes, chloroplasts, and mitochondria i know they output glucose from photosynthesis and ATP energy, CO2, and water from cellular respiration i know they use glucose as a source of energy
Research Question Is artificial light better than sunlight?
Predictions If a seed is given artificial light, then it will grow faster than a seed given sunlight.
Experimental Design put 20 snap pea seeds in twenty separate paper towels inside their designated dishes, fill a syringe with water and drop 20 drops directly into the seed as needed, put half of the seeds into sunlight, put the other half of the seeds under a lamp, Use a ruler to measure how much each seed has grown in centimeters and record it, Repeat steps 2 and 5 every day over the span of 3 days.
Conclusion Claim : Seeds under artificial light sprout faster than seeds under sunlight. Evidence : When there is artificial light, it is constant. When there is sunlight, it is only on for a certain amount of time each day. Our seeds grew much better in artificial light than sunlight. I know this because on March 15 the average or mean sprout growth for the sunlight seeds was 1.75 centimeters. On the other hand, the artificial seeds had an average sprout length of 5.425 centimeters. This is a difference of a whole 3.67 centimeters. This means that the artificial seeds sprouted much faster than the sunlight seeds, almost three times faster. Reasoning : These results do not support scientific knowledge. Multiple scientists have proved that sunlight works better at growing light than artificial light. They say this because artificial light does not emit as much light as the sunlight. It also doesn’t emit as much energy in the red and blue region of light, which helps with plant growth. They also say sunlight is more intense, and is equally distributed among the different wavelengths that plants like to grow. This does not support my argument because in my argument, we said artificial light is better because it is constant. I believe that this was a fair test because they were both watered nearly the same and were handled good.
