Variables:
Independent Variable =
The amount of sunlight
Dependent Variable =
The speed of germination
Variables to Control =
1. How much sunlight it gets
2.type of plant
3.amount of time it gets in sunlight/no sunlight
4. type of seed
Materials:
1.pea plant
2.paper towel
3.petri dish
4.water
5.light
Procedure:
1.Get the materials from the list
2.put the pea on a paper towel in the petri dish
3.Do that again to the second pea
4.put one pea plant under a light
5.put the second pea plant under 3 layers of paper towel so it gets no sunlight.
6.observe the plant for the next 8 days
7.at the end of the 8 days observe the difference |
Research Question |
We came up with the question because we were all curious about how the sunlight actually affected the plants growth so we decided to do something that would answer our question. |
Predictions |
If we plant ten pea plants one with sunlight during the day and one without then the one with sunlight will germinate faster. |
Experimental Design |
1.Get the materials from the list
2.put the pea on a paper towel in the petri dish
3.Do that again to the second pea
4.put one pea plant under a light
5.put the second pea plant under 3 layers of paper towel so it gets no sunlight.
6.observe the plant for the next 8 days
7.at the end of the 8 days observe the difference |
Conclusion |
Based on our results we believe that peas grow better in the dark than in the light, which was no the results that we expected. |
