Research Question |
How does high and low fertilizer affect the amount of seed pods, flowers, leaves, and the height of the plants growth over time? |
Predictions |
There will measure more of all given variables in the high fertilizer because there is more nutrients given. |
Experimental Design |
Emptied a plastic water bottle then proceeded to cut the water bottle in half. The top of a water bottle is inverted like a funnel. There was a whole punctured in the bottle cap and the the wick was put in the whole created in the bottle cap. The bottle cap with a water wick is then seated in the bottle reservoir that will hold water and nutrients. The bottle is filled with root media. Five heaping tablespoons of vermiculite is added. The osmocote pellets are added to each bottle, 6 pellets in the low nutrient and 24 pellets in high nutrients. Four heaping tablespoons of slightly moistened 50:50 mixture of Vermiculite "seedling starter" mix is added. Six fastplant seeds are evenly spread out over the soil.
The seed is then covered with two tablespoons of Vermiculite. A plastic label stick is then obtained and used to determine which bottle is high or low. The entire root medium is soaked with water until water was dripping from the base. Next, the reservoir is filled with water. Lastly, the bottle is placed into the plant light box. The variable is the fertilizer. |
