Project by group chsparfittspring2018

Explore Our group knows some about plants and plant life but we don't know a whole lot, during this experiment we hope to learn more about plant growth.
Research Question Will salt concentration affect cfern growth? If so, how?
Predictions We as a group predict that if more salt is added to the spore, then the growth will decrease because the plant will have to adapt to the salt and will block the water from getting to the plant.
Experimental Design Our plan is to get 4 petri dishes and see how the salt affects the growth off the cferns while in gametophyte stage. We will put the salt in during that stage and keep track of the growth of measuring it and writing it down. Independent Variable: salt Dependent: the spores Control: no salt
Conclusion Conclusion: Claim: Difference in the salt concentration did not affect the growth of the gametophyte and the germination of the c-fern. Evidence: Our results were mostly inconclusive, so we have little evidence to support our claim. There was some small variation in germination times, as the plants with the less salinity germinated faster than the ones with higher levels of salt. Reasoning: If we were to do this experiment again, we would be more precise in how we add the salt and measure it out more carefully so that our data will be even more precise.
