Explore We know that C-ferns start out as microscopic spores. We found out that rhizoids are single cellular and roots are not.
Research Question How does gravity affect the growth of the rhizoids? We didn't know much about the topic and that's why we chose it.
Predictions We predict that the rhizoids will grow the the direction that gravity pulls them.
Experimental Design Our Rhyzoids bended to the pull of gravity, instead of making right angles. This is because the Ryzoids only have 1 cell that just keeps growing.
Conclusion The orientation of the plants did effect how it grew. We think that gravity pulled the roots. Future experiments that could be done after this experiment are how does the length of the rhizoid affect its orientation?
Investigation Theme CFERN
