We didnt know anything about C ferns before this project. We learned about how the spores germinate and also have sexual and asexual reproduction. We were interested in how the amount of light can effect how the spores germinate |
Research Question |
We wanted to test how the amount of light wavelengths would effect the germination of the C ferns. The topic was on C ferns and germination and this showed how the growth would be effected. |
Predictions |
Our prediction was that the dish with purple cellophane would germinate the fastest. We thought this because the plants would be receiving |
Experimental Design |
First we chose to test what wavelength of light would cause the C-fern spores to germinate faster. After this, we decided to do a wavelength from each end of the spectrum, this would be the red and purple. We also to do one that would be receiving no light. After this, we made little pockets, to put the dishes, in out of red cellophane, purple cellophane, and foil. We decided to leave one uncovered as our control. We then counted the number of spores in each dish. About a week later we counted the number of spores that had germinated. |
Conclusion |
In conclusion, our hypothesis was correct. The purple cellophane germinated more spores then the rest of the of the |
