Project by group camsdavisspring2021

Explore We know the basics of plants such as what they need to grow, how they are able to grow, what they offer to us, and the benefits of having a plant.
Research Question How might damage affect the growth and health of a tree?
Predictions It might cause the tree to be weaker by limiting the access to sunlight. There is also the chance that the limb was dead and/or contaminated with bacteria and getting rid of that limb could have been a good thing.
Experimental Design First, gather three trees with no damage, a broken limb, and some damage such as scratches. Next, pluck a few leaves from the trees and memorize exactly where you plucked them, how many leaves you plucked, and how many remain on the branch. Now, for each different tree, test the speed of the growth of the leaf to see if the tree is still healthy or not. Record the time it took for the leaves to grow back or for when the amount of leaves on the branch is greater than the amount it had left after plucking leaves. Variables that will be measured are time and number of leaves to determine whether or not the trees are healthy. The variables that are tested are the different damages on the trees. The variables that are kept the same is the environment, the type of tree, and the amount of leaves that are plucked in the beginning.
