We know that different plants require different amounts of nutrients and water than other plants. That different soils can hold different amounts of water and nutrients. Do venus flytraps have a digestive system? |
Research Question |
We want to if sowing seeds at different densities affect their germination or growth. We picked the question from the choices that were available and it relates to what we know because it involves agriculture and irrigation. |
Predictions |
We believe that the plants in a denser area will grow more than the lonesome plants. We believe the plants in a denser area will have more support from the others and they will germinate. |
Experimental Design |
We will be using radish seeds and will split them into four sections: one seed, three seeds, six seeds, and then nine seeds in their respective areas 2 inches apart from each other. We will initially water them with 50 mL of water and keep the soil moist over 4-5 days as needed. They will be grown in the greenhouse where they get 6+ hours of sunlight a day. The different sections will be measured in intervals of 5 days: first time at 5 days, second at 10, third at 15 days. They will be measured (in cm) from the soil up to see their surface growth (and will continue to be watered as needed). Constant: radish, soil, amount of water, sunlight
Dependent: growth from soil
Independent: amount of seeds
Control: the one seed |
