PlantingMI6 HQ

Nominated by Michael T. Roche, Teacher at High Technology School

What makes this a star project?

I especially appreciated the independence of this team in conducting the investigation. These four freshman students designed and conducted an experiment that combined their interest in Raspberry Pis with our challenge involving experimental design and Wisconsin Fast Plants. We have not yet covered inferential statistics in our data analysis mini-course, but look forward to using their data set as a teaching example.

How can other teams learn from what this team has done or how they have gone about their project?

These four freshman students designed and conducted an experiment that combined their interest in Raspberry Pis with our challenge involving experimental design and Wisconsin Fast Plants. Working independently with advice from their plantingscience.org mentor, they constructed test chambers and programmed the mini-computers to generate the frequencies to which their plants were exposed.
