  • Research Interests (300 words)
My research interest is to study the biosynthesis pathways, pathway genes, and enzymes of plants that typically possess medicinal properties. I am particularly interested in investigating important secondary metabolites biosynthesis pathways in molecular aspect. My educational background and research experiences in biochemistry, plant molecular biology, cell biology, microscopy and functional characterization of genes have provided a foundation on which productive research can be conducted.

  • Which of the following best describes your career stage?
    Postdoctoral Researcher

  • Profile Question 1
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
There's always a reason behind a particular phenomenon in our everyday's life. It is fun to explore and unravel the principle of science. Then, that's coming to the part where our imagination and creativity could take place and put them into applications. Isn't it amazing? We wipe off the fear of being innocent and learn about how to appreciate life and lives by understanding both the living and non-living things on earth.

  • Profile Question 2
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
Impatiens balsamina, also known as garden balsam, is a tropical ornamental plant. The fun part about the plant is its impulsive burst of the capsule. When the capsule turns to mature stage, it burst and release the seeds immediately whenever I touch. The flowers can be used to grind into liquid, and then could be used to paint the nail. It is always one of the childhood games especially in the rural area in Malaysia.

  • Profile Question 3
What is tough about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
There's still a lot of things pending to discover and we are yet to understand. Especially when it comes to a specific topic in scientific research, the scarce of the literature review sometimes could make it difficult to infer and carry on. However, it is the interesting part that we could contribute something little to extend the circle of scientific knowledge, or to fill the gap in our understanding towards certain topics.
