  • Employment Status

  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
I am interested in the evolution of mating systems in flowering plants. I have studied mating systems in both hibiscus and morning glories.

  • Profile Question 1
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
My favorite plant is the pitcher plant. There are several species, but they all share a common morphology (shape) and they are all carnivorous. They are a neat example of convergent evolution as well!

  • Profile Question 2
Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
I have always loved science and I always knew I would do something in the field of science. I had a hard time deciding between medicine, chemistry or biology....but I finally chose biology. When I was in high school, I took nearly every science class my school had to offer: chemistry, physics, biology and anatomy! I even petitioned to replace my PE classes with science classes!

  • Profile Question 3
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
I love that I had so many career options after I graduated and that I am constantly learning.

  • Capacity: How many teams at a time are you comfortable working with?

What led you to this hypothesis? How are you measuring growth? How are you measuring sound?

Leafblowers Britnie Foltz

Hi Annalisa! I no longer do research on morning glories and hibiscus, but I do grow them in my garden! I know quite a bit about them and like to grow different species.
