Research Interests (300 words)
While my current job is not science or research based, my degree is in Biological Sciences and I have professional experiences as an ecologist. Throughout my undergrad, I worked in the lab of Dr. Susan Kalisz and focused on plant mating system phylogeny and mapping the genus' evolutionary tree as well as field research on the effects of overpopulation of white tailed deer and invasives. I developed protocol on biological inventory studies in Honduras during my Peace Corps service. Most recently I was a research assistant at the Chicago Botanic Gardens for the Plants of Concern program. I led volunteer stewardship days to monitor rare and endangered plant species in the Chicagoland area in partnership primarily with the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. I have worked for Make-A-Wish Illinois outside the scientific sector for the last 3.5 years.
