Research Interests (300 words)I am interested in Plant Science. I have worked on biodiversity, climate change, plant populations conservation. I then worked to increase the participation of minority-serving universities in scientific research. Now, I serve the United Nations in its work on a more equitable sharing of benefits coming from the use of sequence data from living organisms

Profile Question 1When and why did you decide to go into a science career?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):I traveled to Madagascar to study lemurs as part of an expedition when I was an undergrad. I lived in a tent for 4 months in the mountains of NE Madagascar. I fell in love with tropical forests and there was no way back after that.

Profile Question 2What is best about being a scientist?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):I can help people in all kinds of domains. I set up a camp for middle school girls when I was doing research in Florida. Then, I worked in Washington DC and I get to travel to Africa to help people in villages get access to clean water, replant trees to stop soil erosion. Now I am in Montreal working with 135 governments and many NGOs and international organizations to help create a more equitable world for conservation.

Profile Question 3Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):When I was in high school I loved physics and maths. I also liked biology a lot. In my class, everyone seemed to think biology was boring. But it never discouraged me, I would always answer questions, ask plenty of them. In the end it was great, because my teacher would pay a lot of attention to my interest for biology and we had a special bond. It was fun ! I liked her a lot and she was very encouraging of me. It never bothered me that others didn't like it much, I could be cool in so many other ways ;) I also learned then that being confident in what you like makes you cool, much more than trying to be just like everyone else !
