  • Profile Question 1
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Deep down, I believe I always knew I wanted to be a scientist. My grandmother was a huge inspiration. She loved plants and would teach me about native medicine from Hawai'i, and translate that to uses of plants in Florida. I spent my childhood learning about edible and medicinal uses of plants. I also loved to draw. I thought I should pursue a career in art, but it then dawned on me - why not have both? I changed my major to Environmental Science and Biology, and minored in geology. It was absolutely the right move! I now can spend my time in the field, gathering data, running tests, studying the world around me. I can then distill the information to write meaningful reports that occasionally help to influence policies.

How are things going with this? How do you feel about the report part? Have you submitted and/or when is the final submission due?

If you have not yet submitted a final…

Thank  you for sharing! Are the data in the far left "dry mass" column showing averages from multiple plants (e.g. "4.98/3=1.66")?

If so, what did you base the plotted (far right) dry mass column on?

Perfectly understandable. I hope the DNA and RNA unit went well for everyone and you had a nice break.
