  • Research Interests (300 words)
I work with CA native plants in the field and in a greenhouses CSUDH where we propagate plants from wild specimens I find in the field. I also research salinity tolerance in plants, both in the field and for my thesis.

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
After working as a registered dental hygienist for many years, I had lots of questions in my mind. So I enrolled in a genetics class and one thing led to another. I completed an MS program in biology with a thesis in plant biology and worked with the USDA on that project. I also continued to study other aspects of the environment related to plant biology after completing my degree and took many additional math, chemistry and geology courses.

  • Profile Question 2
Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
Basically, I loved science in high school.

  • Profile Question 3
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
Brassica nigra is the plant I've studied for more than 15 years, both in the field and for research projects. I'm amazed at the adaptability and variably of this plant and have tested it for salinity tolerance for several years in a row,

Hello Team, Those are wonderful questions and many processes are easily observable with the use of leaf discs. How will you record and measure changes in pigmentation and transpiration rate?
