Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
My passion in my classroom is to help students think like scientists. I structure many of my lessons with the template of asking a Question, collecting Evidence, and Explaining your claim with the evidence (QEE). I love using real world data (student or scientist collected) to help students gain experience with the NGSS 8 Science Practices. I spend most of my summers at teacher institutes, including two at Texas A & M for PlantingScience, two at Michigan Tech for a plant biotechnology Research Experience for Teachers, and one at University of Michigan's Biological Station for an ecological independent Research Experience for Teacher. Trees are my favorite plant - I had the privilege of taking Woody Plants and Forest Ecology at UM with Burt Barns and have been in love with them ever since!
