    Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

    I have always been curious, loved being outside, and loved learning about plants in particular. Science was a great way to indulge in all three.

    What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
    At the moment it would be lavender. Through my work as a horticultural therapist (using activities with plants to help people de-stress, heal from injuries, etc.) I have become interested in aromatherapy. Lavender is a great de-stresser!

    Do you have advice for students about preparing for a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
    Follow your passion and don't worry too much about what's marketable and what isn't. You will probably change what you study several times, so start with something you are excited about. Your enthusiasm will make it easier for you to leave a favorable impression on anyone you talk with. Second, apply to the best places for studying what you are interested in, even if you don't think you will be admitted. You don't know, and you'll never know if you don't apply.
