    I am interested in ecology and evolutionary genetics. My research is focus on the interactions between evolutive mechanisms as they are mutations. Mutations can increase randomly in species populations influencing the conservation of these species. One way to investigate this phenomenon is using the offspring of hybrid species. Later this approach could be apply in the conservation of natural populations.

    When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

    Since I was a child, I was passionate about the “why” of everything around me. My mom used to avoid all my questions because once she answered something that gave me other idea for other question. My favorite subject in high school was always science. So, when I had to choose about what type of undergrad I wanted to fulfill, I did not take me too much to realize that Biology was the best fit for my profile.

    Can you share a funny/interesting lab or field story?

    This is funny but also a bit scary hahaha. While I was doing my undergrad I had lots of field trips because of my classes. I remember we were in this cloudy-rainy forest in the night looking for frogs (I think) and the professor requested us to stay alone and quite because that was going to be easier to records the sounds. At some point I was alone and I heard far away someone screaming and running and then It became at chain of people doing the same so my reaction was act in the same way (hahahha), few words we could not record that night the frogs.

    What is a typical day like for you?

    The first thing I try to do to at the start of my day is check my calendar. That helps me to be mentally prepare for how busy I am going to be in the day. If I am running and experiment, there’s days that I could work more than 10 hours with just brakes for lunch. However, if am not running an experiment, my days could be less hectic.
