  • Research Interests (300 words)
My research interests are varied as characterized by my degrees. I have a bachelor's in microbiology with a diploma in biotechnology. I have a masters in biomedical genetics. I worked in a research lab in veterinary sciences. I did my PhD in toxicology and entomology. Botanical sciences always interested me, especially as it is intrinsically tied to entomology.

  • Profile Question 1
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
I decided I wanted to be a scientist in 3rd grade, when I realized it could explain the many things I was curious about. Science was exciting- I loved my science classes! It was then in 8th grade that I decided I wanted to be a biologist.

  • Profile Question 2
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Profile Question 3
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
Milkweed (Asclepias). Probably, specifically butterfly milkweed because it is so pretty! But milkweed because it is the sole food source of the monarch larvae and I love monarch butterflies! Also I find the co-evolution of this particular host plant and the insect fascinating. And also because I think weeds are nearly always vilified by the average person.
